Camp Korey

Tim and Donna Rose, who lost their teenage son, Korey, to cancer, founded Camp Korey in his honor in 2005.  Their dream of a safe haven for Northwest families struggling with childhood illness became a reality in 2008, when Camp Korey opened its doors at the historic 817-acre Carnation Farm.  Located 45 minutes from Seattle, Camp Korey has a unique agricultural theme and everything a camper could want or need.

Camp Korey operates year round, offering eight summer sessions, hospital outreach, family and reunion weekends, and specialty programs.  Hundreds of campers battling conditions such as Mitochondrial Disease, craniofacial differences, Juvenile Diabetes, and organ transplants find joy and acceptance at Camp Korey.  Kids meet others who share their experiences, and quickly realize that as Camp Korey campers, they are not alone.

Feature Story

Campers find a second home at Camp Korey, and carry their camp successes with them as they face life's many challenges.  One of our veteran campers wrote a thank you note the very day she left:

"Camp Korey has been the best camp.  It's so much fun and there are so many activities to do.  One of the things that I really liked about this camp was that no one made fun of you because of the way you dressed, looked, or acted.  I felt like I really fit in.  There were other kids who had the exact same facial problem as I have and in my cabin there were some girls who were also adopted.  I thought that was really cool.  Another thing is that the counselors at the camp were so nice and fun to hang with.  They didn't look at you as a kid with a facial problem--they just acted like you were a normal kid.  I felt like I could tell them any of my feelings because they really understood me.  I loved all of the activities at Camp Korey, especially horseback riding and swimming.  I can't WAIT to come back." - Sonja
